We are just over a week away from the official start to Monsoon. Monsoon runs from June 15 through September 30.
According to the National Weather Service Tucson office, and the Climate Prediction Center, Monsoon 2018 is expected to be wetter than average with warmer than average temperatures.
Our dry conditions could also lead to our subtropical high pushing north sooner, which could lead to an early onset of rainfall.
There is also the potential for a weak El Nino, warmer sea temps, late in the Monsoon, which could allow tropical weather to spread moisture further north, possibly increasing rain in September.
Although we may see a wetter than average Monsoon, it's important to remember that rainfall will likely be widely variable across the region.
