TUCSON, Ariz. - Mountain View special ed teacher Jill Hurt helps her students stay focused on the big prize: Success in life.
Hurt believes all special ed students are capable of success.
A speech pathologist, Hurt discovers which methods reach various students with different cognitive abilities.
She says her goal is "showing consistency and getting kids involved with energy and enjoyment, whether we're learning or whether it's social skills."
"We're learning as much as the students are every day," she said. "Changing the way we do things every day to make sure it's effective.
Hurt feels humbled by her nomination and is thankful to her administration, students and their families for their support.
