Sabino loses to American Leadership Academy 31-14

Sabino, struggling to find its rhythm from their first drive of the game. A fumble on their own one yard line, setting the tone for the rest of the game.  Two late strikes, but too little too late for a comeback. Sabino dropped the 3A State Chamionship game to American Leadership Academy 31-14.

"I'm proud of our kids and the effort we brought to the table", said Sabino head coach Jay Campos. "Many times throughout the year we faced adversity and we found a way to keep on battling. Even tonight - things weren't going our way. But we never gave up and never got down. We kept on plugging for 4 quarters, so nothing but respect for my guys tonight, my coaches. Very thankful to have this year with them, and it was a great group."

Though this is the end for Sabino quarterback, Drew Dixon, it's not the end for him here in Tucson.  As Dixon will join the Arizona Wildcats next year.

"I never want this feeling again", said Dixon. "So, working hard and doing everything we can. I mean, we worked hard but we got outplayed. But you know, just never giving up. In this program, coach taught us to never give up. We fight. We don't have the strongest and fastest kids, but we never give up."
