TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) Sabino defeated Sahuaro, 41-35, at the Saberdome, to kick off the 2016 high school football season.
Future Arizona Wildcat Drew Dixon scored twice for the Sabercats. Sahuaro's Nick Fountain had touchdown runs of 84 and 14 yards.
Lincoln Stewart scored a late touchdown for Sahuaro to cur the Sabercat lead to six with 1:08 left to play, but Sabino recovered the onsides kick.
This was the only game on Thursday night. There are seven games involving southern Arizona football teams on Friday.
