TUCSON, Arizona — When Juan Garcia took the mound on March 12th against rival Desert View, he and his Sunnyside teammates understood that even in a sport with no clock, time was still running out.
"Knowing that that was our last game, we were still fighting hard and playing hard." said Garcia.
The Blue Devils won that game, 8-1. They’re a team that is perennially strong.
"It starts at little league. Everyone goes to Sunnyside. It translates over. The talent is always there."
Juan Garcia is taking his talents to Cochise College, and he then intends to play at at a four-year college.
"Cochise was the best fit for me not just in athletics but in academics, too."
And the Blue Devils will be back thanks to the former Little Leaguers turned underclassmen, who will turn seniors.
"They played a big part of our team. I think they’ll do extremely well next year."
