Sarah Sellers planned on running in the Boston Marathon. She just didn't plan on running into the national spotlight.

Sellers, an unknown Tucson resident who had raced in just one prior marathon, shocked the running community with her second place finish in Monday's Boston Marathon.

"It's still very shocking, Sellers told KGUN9 two days after the race. "I think it's probably just as shocking as it was finding out I was second."

Her time, slowed down by the rainy and windy weather, was two hours, forty four minutes, and four seconds.

"I knew I was doing better than expected when I was passing women I read about," added Sellers.

Sellers pocketed $75,000 for her second place finish, which she says will go towards student loans. She plans to keep her job as a full-time nurse at Banner UMC.

"Nursing is rewarding. It's definitely something I love."

With her notoriety growing, her time in the spotlight doesn't look like it will run out anytime soon.
