#1 seed Pusch Ridge defeated #4 seed Benjamin Franklin 47-7 Saturday night in Tucson to advance to the state title game. The Lions, and the Salpointe Lancers, (4A) will represent southern Arizona in the state title game.
The Lions started quick...returning the opening kickoff 92 yards or a touchdown thanks to Mitch Maas. The run game was excellent against the Chargers, racking up 416 yards and five touchdowns. Pusch Ridge was heavily favored to advance, and certainly lived up to the hype. They led Benjamin Franklin 21-0 at the half.
Tamerat McLeod also scored a couple of touchdowns to help the Lions advance. Pusch Ridge will face Casteel next Saturday in the 3A state title game which will be played at Campo Verde HS in Gilbert.
