Matt Behrendt named IFL Offensive Player of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz — Sugar Skulls quarterback Matt Berhendt was named the Indoor Football League's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Tucson's 62-42 win over Bismarck last Sunday.

Berhendt threw for eight touchdowns, the most by and quarterback in the league so far this season. Despite only playing half of the season opener, Brehendt is third in the IFL in passing yards and leads the Sugar Skulls in rushing yards. Berhendt spent the last two seasons wtih the Green Bay Blizzard after earning Divsiion II All-American honors at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

It is two awards in two weeks for the Sugar Skulls, as defensive back Dee Maggitt Jr won Defensive Player of the week in the March 3rd opener at San Diego.

The 2-0 Sugar Skulls visit the 2-0 Arizona Rattlers this week.
