Many were surprised when unknown runner Sarah Sellers finished 2nd in the Boston Marathon, herself included.
"I mean, I've always been a runner," said Sellers, who was a guest on 94.9 Mixfm radio. "I've dreamed of competing at a world class level, but as far as doing it right now, I didn't think that was possible."
Despite training in Tucson's desert climate, her impressive performance was in rainy weather. Sellers is a full-time nurse at Banner UMC. She's not a professional runner, although she did collect $75,000 for her second place finish. Sellers says she isn't ready to give up her scrubs.
"I want to keep my job. It's rewarding, and I love what I do. It gives me perspective on life. Thankfully, in the running world, you can kind of balance both."
