TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Schools across Arizona are well into their second semester of this unprecedented school year and we continue our look at the impact this pandemic is having on student learning.

KGUN 9 teamed up with our sister station ABC15 in Phoenix to dive deeper into student learning gaps, the alarming rise of "F" grades at the end of first semester, the many factors contributing to the trend, and how education leaders are working to provide students and families additional academic support.

Education leaders joining the town hall are Steve Holmes, the superintendent of Sunnyside Unified School District, and Melissa Castillo, Associate Superintendent of High Academic Standards for Students with the Arizona Department of Education. KGUN Evening Anchor and Investigative Reporter Valerie Cavazos and ABC15 Education Reporter and Anchor Danielle Lerner moderate.
