One week after State Superintendent Kathy Hoffman laid out the ways she thinks lawmakers can better support Arizona's teachers, students, and their families, she will deliver yet another address to members of the state legislature.
On Tuesday, Hoffman will give her second annual "State of Special Education" address virtually to the House Education Committee. The former speech therapist is expected to touch on similar themes, like the challenges brought on by the pandemic, and the need for more funding and resources.
In last year's address, Hoffman also focused on the need for more special education teachers and therapists.
ABC15's Danielle Lerner spent some time talking with parents of children with special needs to see how they are navigating this school year.
"It's always hard to have a kid that has some challenges," said Inge-Lise Davis, whose son is in special education at Marcos de Niza High School. "But there's definitely blessings, you learn a lot about yourself, about your family unit."
State of Special Education Address is scheduled to start at 2:00pm. on Tuesday, February 9.
