TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Amphitheater Public School District announced Friday it will delay the start of hybrid learning.

Between the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the measured rollout of vaccines, it is not safe to open schools on February 1, according to a letter sent to families.

The district says they are following the guidance of state and local health officials, which are recommending schools remain in virtual learning.

The new reopening date is set for Feb. 15.
