TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Wednesday marked a huge milestone for Tucson Tamale -- the southern Arizona favorite rolled up their 4 millionth tamale of 2020.
The iconic eatery started 12 years ago. Back then, Tucson Tamale made 240 tamales a day. Now, they make about 20,000.
The company's founders tell us sales have gone up by 90 percent in 2020 because of the pandemic.
"We're distributed nationally, so we're in over 3,500 stores around the country," Tucson Tamale founder Todd Martin says. "We also have a thriving e-commerce business. Our e-commerce business this year alone doubled from last year. Starting in March, our e-commerce business just took off."
This holiday season, Tucson Tamale is donating more than 800 tamales to local food banks to help those in need.
