TUCSON, Ariz. — As you comb through the racks at Great Things Thrift Store you’ll know you're making a difference.
All of the profits of the newest thrift shop in town will go to Child & Family Resources in Pima county.
"We're opening this Great Store in order to generate additional resources to help our work of empowering children and families so that they can be more likely to succeed," explained Dr. Eric Schindler, President and CEO of Child & Family Resources.
The nonprofit assists families facing eyeing what might be some of the toughest times in their life.
“Many of our programs are designed to work in the home and in the community with families who may be at risk of child maltreatment or to promote healthy child development, prevent substance abuse within teens,” he explained.
Dr. Schindler said although they are given resources, like grants, opening the thrift store gives the nonprofit a chance to help more families during a time when more families need help than ever before.
“We’re going to have every safety protocol you could imagine. There's going to be social distancing, face masks, sanitizers, [and] limited capacity. So, we really want to make sure that anybody who shops here will be as safe as they would be in any other setting, like a supermarket or a store that they may choose to go to,” said Dr. Schindler.
If you have items to donate, you can visit the thrift shop beginning Thursday. The grand opening is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
