SUMMERHAVEN, Ariz. (KGUN) — Whether it’s to snap a few pictures, enjoy some fudge or take a ride on the ski lift, dozens of visitors made the trip up Mount Lemmon to enjoy the cold weather.

“It feels like being somewhere completely different; like Montana. Only you're just a few, you know, a few minutes from Tucson,” said Grey Carpenter, owner of Mount Lemmon General Store.

Mount Lemmon ski lodge area manager Graham Davies agrees. He said the cold weather does help, but they see the most business is when there is enough snow to ski.

“With COVID and then the fire 2020 has been a challenge," said Davies. "Our numbers aren't that different but right now is the slow time for us until we do get a significant amount of snow.”

Inside of the Mount Lemmon General Store, it’s no different. Carpenter said slowly but surely his store has been rebounding.

“It is a boost to business right now just because of the season the holidays. And so, we're doing our best to keep up with that,” he said.

Both businesses are open throughout the week.
