TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) received a service that will speed up relief for Americans struggling to make ends meet as a result of COVID-19.

DES announced Friday they hired the company Geographic Solutions to help process claims from those who qualify for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. The DES says applicants should soon be able to receive aid within the same week they apply for it.

Geographic Solutions will begin to process applications starting May 12.

“We recognize the critical importance of these benefits for Arizonans who are out of work due to COVID-19,” said Tom Betlach, from the Office of the Director. “This solution will help get benefits to people faster, with payments being made retroactively for those eligible. We will continue to put forward all available resources, including working nights and weekends, to stand up this brand-new program to get individuals the help they need.”
