TUCSON, Ariz. — This week is Diaper Awareness Week.
Because of the pandemic, the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona says it has increased distribution by 21 percent. Dr. Shannon Roberts, CEO of the DBSA, says one in three families struggle to provide diapers for their children.
"When people don't have jobs and often can't provide for their family, they often have to choose between providing a meal and diapers, and so most put providing food for family a priority. It only makes sense," she said. "But this is a basic need that only gets overlooked because of financial constraints."
Because of the increase in demand, the DBSA is launching virtual diaper drives, asking anyone who is able to donate diapers or host their own drive.
