TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Pima County Sheriff's Department says it is looking into a downed aircraft.

It happened near Ryan Airfield.

The Federal Aviation Adminstration released this statement:

Local authorities discovered the wreckage of a single-engine Rockwell Commander 112 about 20 miles southwest of Ryan Airfield near Tucson, Ariz., at 9 p.m. local time Sunday. Only the pilot was aboard. The FAA issued an Alert Notice (ALNOT) on October 17 to public safety agencies, pilots and airports to alert them about the missing aircraft. The FAA and NTSB will investigate. Neither agency identifies people involved in aircraft accidents. The FAA will release the aircraft tail number once investigators verify it at the scene. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and all updates.

According to Tucson Police Air, a police helicopter assisted in the search for the overdue aircraft.

The aircraft was located. No survivors were located.

PCSD and the NTSD are continuing the investigation.
