SAHUARITA, Ariz. — The Sahuarita Police Department says they have received lots of complaints about speeding and safety along S. Camino Lago Azul between both ends of Rancho Sahuarita Boulevard.
After hearing about the concerns last month, officers began high visibility traffic enforcement along the corridor.
A two-day study using a speed trailer found 4,600 people drove along S. Camino Lago Azul. According to the data collected by the town's police department, nearly half drove over the speed limit of 25 miles per hour.
The average speed traveled was actually under 25 mph, according to Cpl. Vincente Ramirez. But more than 50 people were found to be going over 35 mph.
Sahuarita Police plan on utilizing the speed trailer on other roads around town.
