Is the east side Broadway repaving project finished?

TUCSON, Ariz. — We routinely ask our KGUN9 viewers to write or call us if they see something that doesn't look right or have a question as to why something on the roadway is the way it is.

Eastside viewer Dave D. emailed Operation Safe Roads about his observation while traveling on a newly paved eastbound lane of Broadway, between Harrison and Houghton.

Dave compared that stretch of Broadway to the new section of Valencia, between Wilmot & Kolb, saying that it's a much different and smoother ride on Valencia. He wondered if anyone had noticed.

We traveled to the project zone and while it's true the eastbound lanes of Broadway are paved and "look" done, the final paving on the whole project hasn't begun. The contractor wants to finish the westbound section of Broadway, before the whole project get the final lift 3-4 inch lift of paving to make it a much smoother travel experience.

In the process of checking on Dave's observation, I was briefed that instead of the original January 2020 completion estimate for the project, due to weather issues, the Broadway improvement project has a revised estimate for completion of end-of-February.
