Those who work in the hospitality industries have been some of the most affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, including restaurants, bars, hotels, retail, and events, which have had to lay off most of their staff, significantly reduce hours, or close altogether.

Of the 700,000 jobs that were lost in March in the United States, 400,000 were from the leisure and hospitality industries, according to an April 3 report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

We understand that adds a lot of stress to an already stressful situation. There are dozens of companies hiring temporary workers in Phoenix (and Arizona), including most of the major grocery chains, shipping companies, and convenience stores.

But, there are other companies that are in need of part-time and full-time customer services workers right now, including American Express, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Desert Financial, Discover, Farmers Insurance, Honeywell, and Jacksons.

“Some of the retail or restaurant people that have been laid off, what we’re recommending is that they look at some of these call center jobs because call centers, and I hate to call them call centers, contact centers or customer service or sales roles, they love to hire people will great customer service skills," said Denise Gredler, who founded BestCompaniesAZ.com in 2002.
