Costco is announcing big changes as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
Beginning May 4, all shoppers are required to wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while inside the store.
The requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to people who are unable to wear it due to a medical condition.
Costco representatives say the change is for the safety of guests, employees and other members, and to further assist with social distancing efforts.
Other changes aim at limiting the number of guests allowed in per membership card. At U.S. Costco warehouses, no more than two people will be allowed to enter. In El Paso, Texas, Kentucky and Puerto Rico, no more than one person will be allowed to enter per membership card.
Costco locations and gas stations will return to normal operating hours beginning May 4.
Select Costco warehouses will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, for members ages 60 and older, and people with disabilities. Only members who meet this criteria will be able to shop during these hours. Guests will not be admitted. The pharmacy will be open, but the Costco Food Court will be closed during these hours.
