Portions of westbound Interstate 10 are closed due to a police situation in western Arizona, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials.
Sources tell ABC15 an Arizona State Trooper pulled over a Ford Mustang just before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday when the incident occurred.
As the trooper was investigating, the driver fired shots at the trooper and fled. Sources say the trooper was not struck by the bullets.
DPS officials tell ABC15 the westbound lanes of I-10 near will be likely be closed from mileposts 81 to 57 through rush hour. The Arizona Department of Transportation says traffic can take a detour on Salome Road to US 60 to Vicksburg Road.
The man who fled in the Mustang apparently stole a semi and led police on a chase that ended in Quartzsite where there is an active situation.
