Introducing Operation Safe Roads

One person is killed on Arizona roads every nine hours. Deadly crashes are up 36 percent in two years and 13 to 20 percent of traffic fatalities are pedestrians. KGUN 9 is committed to making our roads a safer place to travel on foot, on bikes, and in our vehicles. We welcome your input. On average one person is killed every eight hours and 56 minutes on Arizona roads. That's according to the newest data from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

KGUN 9 wants to make our streets safer for everyone so we're initiating a yearlong project called Operation Safe Roads. 

Our reporters will address issues like speeding, distracted driving and pedestrian safety.
