Every year hundreds of people are killed and thousands are injured by drivers backing up in driveways and parking lots, that's according to a new AAA study.

The City of Tucson's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program acknowledges there is a problem with people getting hit by cars backing up.

Because of that, they have transformed a few parking areas across town, one of them is Main Gate Square.

The cars are parked at an angle an it is back in parking only so drivers can see anyone ahead of them before taking off.

Earlier this year, the Department of Transportation's new regulation kicked in and the car industry is making changes.

Now, all new cars in the US are required to have back-up rear view cameras.
