The Tempe Police Department says 25-year-old Dantreil Griffin has been arrested in the December death of 22-year-old Wanyaa Stewart.

Stewart is believed to be the brother of ASU basketball star Zylan Cheatham.

Cheatham posted publicly about his brother's death in late December.

Police say on December 20, 2018, Griffin shot and killed Stewart at a Mobil gas station near Mill Avenue and Baseline Road.

Stewart was trying to fill up a tire on his vehicle at the time.

Police believe Griffin and Stewart had previous conflicts in the past, before the shooting.

Griffin was located and arrested Thursday morning in Laveen.

He has been booked on multiple felony charges to include 1st degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misconduct involving weapons, unlawful discharge of a weapon assisting a criminal street gang, endangerment and two counts of criminal damage.
