and last updated

Here is the latest from school districts announcing their plans to reopen schools following the teacher walkout.

Amphitheater Public Schools

Schools are reopening Friday. The district will post plans Friday about how the walkout will affect the end of the school year.

Catalina Foothills School District

Schools will reopen Friday and no extra days will be added to the school year.

Marana Unified School District

This morning the Governor signed the K-12 education budget (HB2663) and we are ready to finish the year strong with our students.

All schools will re-open on Friday, May 4 following their regular Friday school schedule. District services will resume, including transportation, food service, and LEAP; however, there will be no after school activity busses. Your school principal will communicate with you regarding activities/events cancelled during school closure.

Our educators, staff, and administration are eager and excited to welcome students back to school tomorrow! We look forward to getting back to teaching and learning, and it will be wonderful to see our students again.

We know you are anxious to know what the remainder of the school year will look like. We have calculated the instructional hours in our current school year calendar, and have determined that we have sufficient number of instructional hours required by state law. Therefore, the school year for K-12 students will NOT extend beyond the last day of school on Thursday, May 24. As communicated previously, Graduation Ceremonies and issuance of diplomas, finals and Advanced Placement testing will occur as scheduled.

Sunnyside Unified School District

After running a full analysis of our instructional time we have concluded that there is no need to extend the academic year at any of our schools. High school graduations and middle school promotion dates remain the same. The last day of classes for Sunnyside students is May 24th.

Tanque Verde Unified School District

We have already reopened with half days yesterday and today, and full day tomorrow. We have announced we will have to extend the school year, but a final determination on that has not yet been made.

Tucson Unified School District

All schools will remain closed Friday. Schools will reopen Monday. The school year will not be extended and graduation will proceed as planned.
