Tucson Unified School District
On Tuesday evening, the Governing Board voted to close all schools to students and employees effective Wednesday and until the walkout ends. This measure will end the day-to-day announcements the district has had to make thus far.
While two teacher groups (AEA and AEU) have said teachers will return Thursday if the governor’s budget is passed, as of Tuesday evening, we had not heard this information from our local teacher group. We will remain closed until enough of our employees return to work to safely operate our schools.
Amphitheater School District
All schools in the Amphitheater district will remain closed tomorrow (Thursday, May 3).
Catalina Foothills School District
Schools are closed Thursday and will remain closed throughout the walkout.
Sunnyside Unified School District
Dear Sunnyside Families—
We have become aware that a prolonged state educator walkout is inevitable.
As word of extended walkouts in other schools and districts continues, the Sunnyside Unified School District has made the difficult decision to close our schools from May 1 through May 4 due to student safety concerns. It is not viable to keep our schools operating without adequate staffing.
Marana Unified School District
The Marana Unified School District announced that with the lack of progress with the budget approval process and the large number of absences for tomorrow, all 18 Marana schools will remain CLOSED Thursday, May 3 and REMAIN CLOSED until the walkout ends.
Tanque Verde Unified School District

Sierra Vista Unified School District
SVUSD PARENTS, PLEASE NOTE:
While the state budget, which includes changes to education funding has yet to be approved, we will remain closed on Wednesday, May 2.
We can also announce that we will reopen on Thursday, May 3.
Sahuarita Unified School District
SUSD will run on the half-day schedule for the rest of this week, May 2-4, 2018. This will help to manage the transition back, especially given anticipated reduced staffing.
