Moments after the gunman fired on police, the pursuit came to an end, with the car's driver surrendering to police. The car's passenger was seen by overhead TV news helicopters laying motionless in the car. Police surrounded the vehicle, but did not bring out the passenger for 45 minutes.
It appeared that when the car came to stop, law enforcement fired into the rear of the vehicle.
