Actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed a woman on a movie set in New Mexico, authorities say.

Halyna Hutchins, 42, was flown to UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, where she was pronounced dead Thursday. The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office identified Hutchins as the director of photography for the movie "Rust."

Joel Souza, the movie's director, was also injured in the shooting, the sheriff's office said. He was being treated at a hospital in Santa Fe.

"Rust" is being filmed at Bonanza Creek Ranch, near Santa Fe. The movie is set in the 1880s and follows the life of a 13-year-old boy who goes on the run with his grandfather who killed a rancher, according to IMDB.

The sheriff's office says no charges have been filed, however, the incident is under investigation.

On Friday, Baldwin released a statement on Twitter, expressing his condolences following the accident.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours," wrote Baldwin. "I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

The New Mexico Film Office released the following statement on the incident:

“We along with the entire film community in New Mexico are saddened by the tragedy that happened on the set of Rust, yesterday. We send our deepest condolences to the family of Ms. Halyna Hutchins and are keeping positive thoughts for a complete recovery for Mr. Joel Souza. The safety and well-being of all cast, crew, and filmmakers in New Mexico is a top priority at all times.”
