SILVER SPRING, Md. — Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division in Maryland are looking for information in regards to a newborn baby that was found in a wooded area in Silver Spring on Friday afternoon.
Police received a call at approximately 5 p.m. from a man who had been walking on the sidewalk in the area of 10000 Tenbrook Drive when he heard a baby crying.
After investigating the sound, the man found the baby approximately 10 feet from the sidewalk in the woods.
The female newborn was transported to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.
The baby is possibly Hispanic and according to medical personnel at the hospital, was born a few hours before she was found.
Investigators found the child's mother Sunday, but haven't determined why the baby was left in the woods, according to ABC News.
