Lena Derriecott King, a 98-year-old World War II veteran, traveled to Fort Leavenworth Army Base in 2018 for the dedication of a monument honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, comprised of all Black women. The "Six-Triple Eight" set records sorting mail for delivery to U.S. soldiers on the battlefield during WWII.
