DETROIT — A mother and son in Michigan are celebrating a milestone together.
Sharonda Wilson and her son Stephan both graduated Saturday, but Sharonda skipped her graduation ceremony at Ferris State University so she could watch her son graduate from Central Michigan University. She sacrificed her own ceremony to go watch her son's commencement in Mount Pleasant.
When CMU President Rob Davies heard about it, he reached out to Ferris State President David Eisler to make something very special happen — Eisler awarded Sharonda her degree during the ceremony on behalf of Ferris State.
Watch the tear-jerking video below:
To attend her son Stephan’s commencement ceremony, Sharonda Wilson was unable to attend her own from Ferris State University. Learning this, @cmichprez contacted FSU President Eisler and was able to confer her degree on behalf of FSU's president and trustees. #cmichgraduation pic.twitter.com/anCSTHDCdC
