TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Arizona officials are holding a press conference to discuss the move to the Big 12 and what it means for the university.
University of Arizona President Dr. Robert Robbins and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke discussed the decision to leave the Pac-12 for the Big 12 Conference—a decision announced Friday evening after the then-remaining nine schools were unable to agree on a new media rights agreement.
According to Robbins, the decision by the University of Oregon and University of Washington to move to the Big 10 became the catalyst for Arizona's move. Arizona State and Utah will be joining Arizona in the Big 12 in 2024, making this the academic final year of the Pac-12 as we know it.
