TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — On Friday April 12, Vice President Kamala Harris was in Tucson in the wake of the Arizona Supreme Court's ruling on abortion rights.

Harris has been on her “Fight for Reproductive Rights Tour” ahead of this year’s election and made a visit to Phoenix last month. This past Tuesday she announced she would return to Arizona after the state’s supreme court decision.

Her event on Friday took place at El Rio Neighboorhood Center located at 1390 W Speedway Blvd.

“What happened here in Arizona is a new inflection point, it has demonstrated once and for all that overturning Roe was just the opening act of a larger strategy to take women’s rights and freedoms,” Harris said.

She said former President Donald Trump is to blame for this. “And now because of Donald Trump more than 20 states in our nation have bans,” Harris said. “Now because of Donald Trump one in three women of reproductive age in our country live in a state that has a Trump abortion ban.”

Trump and other Republicans were main talking points among several of the event’s speakers. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero said, “Let me be absolutely clear when I say, we are in this situation because of Donald Trump.”

Harris and other leaders at the event reiterated to the crowd the importance of carrying their energy into November come election time.
