U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents rescued two Mexican-national illegal immigrants Tuesday night.
Border patrol agents from the Ajo Station responded to a 9-1-1 call from a man who said he and another man had been walking in the desert for three days and that they could see a rescue beacon in the distance, according to a media release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Two hours after the call a rescue beacon in the desert west of Ajo was activated. According to CBP, when agents found the men at the beacon they were "medically sound," but exhausted.
According to a CBP media release, the rescued men were arrested for immigration violations and taken to the Ajo station for further processing.
