TUSD will have new board come January

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson's largest district will have a new board come January.

The election results still show one of the three incumbents has been edged out.

Incumbents Mark Stegeman and Kristel Foster took the lead earlier, while Cam Juarez stayed at the bottom.

Lori Riegel sits next to him on our chart.

It's a toss up between Betts Putnam-Hidalgo, Rachael Segwick and Brett Rustand.

At this point it is unlikely one of these candidates will be the newcomer to the board since there are still thousands of votes to be counted.

There is still no word on whether Cam Juarez returned a $5,000 campaign donation from a senior executive of a Phoenix company that received a $21,000,000 contract from TUSD.

Kristel Foster also received the same amount.

After our investigation unveiled the questionable donation, Cam Juarez and Kristel Foster promised to pay back the money.

$5,0000 each.

Pima County elections documents show Foster returned the money, but it appears Juarez has not.  His last filing was dated mid-September.

We have reached out to Juarez for an update and have not heard back.
