Tucson gets one of the worst rankings in the country in terms of our recovery since the recession. Everything from how many people own homes in Tucson to how many households get public assistance is ranked, and of those indicators, Tucson's poverty rate is recovering at the slowest rate.

Wallethubcompared 505 cities across the country by 18 economic indicators. Tucson ranks 486 overall. But, in large cities (cities of 300,000 people or more), Tucson is last.

Scottsdale, Yuma, Mesa, and Phoenix are all ranked higher than Tucson. That ranking means we are seeing fewer new businesses and people have more debt here than in other cities.

Analysts measured the change between pre-and post recession levels, and Tucson ranked well below average in most categories:

104th - Consumer Non-Housing Debt
215th - Foreclosure Rate
337th - Public Assistance Rate
362nd - Home Price Appreciation
388th - Inflow of College-Educated Workers
397th - Labor-Force Participation Rate
400th - Ratio of Part-Time to Full-Time Jobs
411th - Unemployment Rate
441st - Poverty Rate

Some good news: The University of Arizona's business school reported the number of jobs in the Tucson metro area is expected to grow by about 2% this year.

The sectors expected to add the most jobs are health, education, leisure and hospitality.
