TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson Rodeo Parade began at 9 a.m. Thursday.
The route started on Ajo Way, half a mile west of Park Ave., then headed east to Park, south to Park to Irvington Road, west on Irvington to Sixth Avenue and then to to the northern end of the Tucson Rodeo Grounds.
The Grand Marshals for this year's Tucson Rodeo Parade were two World War II veterans.
A local group of veterans were at the grounds for the announcement and to accept the honor.
"I feel ike a person basically that I normally didin't expect. I appreciate their thinking about me and asking me to join the organization and I did, so that's what makes me happy," said WWII veteran Don Salone.
There were expected to be 1,500 people participating in the parade this year and they'll be joined by 600 horses.
