TUCSON, Ariz. - The Tucson Police Department is looking to hire more women. Saturday afternoon, those interested in joining were given insight on what the job takes -- mentally -- and physically.

Celeste Passmore and Heather Tuka have been TPD patrol officers since last August. Having recently completed training, they're hoping to mentor new recruits, and get more women interested in law enforcement.

"Women have just as much to bring to the table as men do, as far as this job goes," Passmore said.

Dozens of women attended the open house to learn more about the application process and the physical tests of being a police officer. Women from all ranks and job titles were available for one-on-one conversations.

"If this is something you really want to do, give it everything you got. 110 percent," Tuka said. "It's not going to be something that's easy, but when you're done, it's such a great accomplishment, you're going to be so proud of yourself."
