TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Tucson Police Department is identifying a man who was shot and killed on the city's south side Monday.
They said he was involved in a robbery just moments before they found him with gunshot wounds.
Officers were called to the Mission Tierra apartments on Mission Road at 10:40 p.m.
As they entered the complex they found 32-year-old Rene Orantez Jr. with gunshot wounds.
Police said he was conscious and even gave them his name before collapsing in front of them.
Officers performed first aid until firefighters took over.
Orantez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tucson police said they learned on scene that Orantez did not live at the complex, but was there assisting with an alleged robbery.
Detectives say, Orantez and another man broke into an apartment and held the people who lived there at gunpoint while taking items from their home.
A fight broke out between Orantez, the other man and the people inside the apartment.
It spilled outside when at least one shot was fired.
Orantez and the other man with him ran away from the apartment.
He never made it out of the complex where police found him and he eventually collapsed.
Police said they found stolen items from the apartment on Orantez.
They have not found the other man who was with Orantez during the incident.
Tucson Police are asking anyone with information to call 88-crime.
