Three apartments were damaged from a fire in the 1300 block of East Drexel Road, according to Capt. Barrett Baker of the Tucson Fire Department.
The first TFD unit that arrived shortly after 1 p.m. found a car fully engulfed in fire. The fire spread from a detached carport area to apartment units to the east.
A second alarm was called by the battalion chief from the fire spreading quickly because of wind conditions.
While crews were trying to put the fire out an ember landed on a rooftop three buildings further east and started a small fire before another crew was able to contain it.
Three apartment units in the middle of the building sustained heavy damage. There were two residents that lived in each of the three apartments. In total, six people have been displaced from this fire. The Red Cross is assisting these displaced residents.
TFD medically assessed one person on scene but they did not require transportation to the hospital.
In total, 40 firefighters and 20 units were dispatched to this scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the estimate on damages is yet to be determined.
