A pedestrian is dead after a fatal crash in a parking lot of an auto shop on the south side just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Tucson Police have identified the pedestrian as 61-year-old Manuel Castro Leon. He died at the scene.
Police say Leon was waiting in the parking lot of the shop while his car was being worked on. An employee in a red pickup truck began pulling out of the lot and ran over Leon.
The driver kept driving down the road but returned when he got a phone call from another employee telling him what happened.
The driver then stayed at the scene to be questioned by officers. Neither speed nor impairment was a factor in the crash.
No citations or arrests have been made at this time.
Northbound 6th Avenue was closed at Pennsylvania Drive. The road reopened by 2:30 p.m.
This was the tenth pedestrian death in Tucson since the start of 2018.
