Tucson Electric Power (TEP) crews are continuing to work until all of their customers' homes are reconnected with electricity after Friday's storm rolled through.

TEP Supervisor of Media Relations Joseph Barrios told KGUN 9 service was restored to about 55,000 customers over the weekend.

As of Sunday, "...about 1,500 remain without service," Barrios shared. "Repair work is ongoing."

He also let KGUN 9 know about the TEP's plans to replace 59 electricity poles.

"We’ll replace wood poles with metal ones in most cases," Barrios explained. "However, we’ll replace wood poles with wood poles in hard-to-access areas so that field workers can ascend the pole to install equipment and perform future maintenance and upgrades."

Open ice stations until 6 p.m.

  • 5550 E. Grant Rd., east of Craycroft Road, in the Chuze Fitness parking lot
