Educators say they want Governor Doug Ducey's 20 X 2020 plan to fully fund teachers salaries, they say proposed test based funding unfairly penalizes schools and students that need the highest funding and they want schools funded now instead of the budget surplus put into a rainy day fund.
When contacted about the planned walk-ins a governor's office spokesperson provided the statement below.
"The governor has heard from students, parents, teachers, principles, superintendents, and education organizations from around the state on how Arizona can continue to invest in K-12 education - above and beyond inflation - in addition to protecting and fulfilling the second year of teacher pay raises as part of the 20 X 2020 plan and restoring additional assistance dollars. We are excited to partner together to get this budget budget over the finish line."
