TUCSON, Ariz. - A man suspected of several rapes was sentenced Monday.
In Pima County Superior Court Monday, Christopher Garcia was sentenced to a total of 15.75 years in prison, with 809 days credit.
In September, Garcia was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, sexual abuse, armed robbery and sexual assault.
Garcia was arrested in September 2016 on suspicion of as many as five rapes in Pima County.
The initial case happened on August 26. Sheriff Chris Nanos says one victim was found on Mount Lemmon with no clothes on. She had bruises and scrapes.
Sheriff Nanos said Garcia became more violent with each occurrence.
A week later, a similar case but more aggressive. Someone found a woman along Old Spanish Trail. She was physically and sexually assaulted.
The most recent case was Tuesday, Sept, 20, 2016.
The Sheriff's Department and TPD worked together to locate and arrest the suspect.
One victim recalled when she was in the car with Garcia, he stopped at a Wells Fargo to withdraw money.
"We got ahold of Wells Fargo," said Sheriff Nanos. "They gave us a photo and ID of the individual card owner, whether if it is the man or not we don't know. We did some background check there and found out that individual did in fact own a small sedan and started backtracking from that."
Garcia has an extensive criminal history. He served more than 10 years in prison for burglary and property theft. He was released from prison back in May.
Three months later, he is back in custody.
