Two people -- caught on surveillance camera -- trying to break into a shop's storage container on Tucson's east side. It happened around 3:00 a.m., on October 25, behind Edible Arrangements at the Monterey Village shopping area on Speedway and Wilmot.
Edible Arrangements General Manager Zaira Morales feels that her shop has become a hotspot for crime in the past few months.
"People always come in, and it just kind of seems like they're scoping the place out," she said.
Though the two people who vandalized her storage unit ended up just destroying the door and not taking anything, she says the area behind her store seems to be a popular place for people to loiter after dark.
"We get a lot of dumpster divers," Morales said. "Just a lot of people roaming around."
And on top of seeing people loitering on her surveillance camera -- she's found many items of concern.
"We've found some things under the shed," she said. "Alcohol bottles, syringes, all of that."
Morales explained there often times is just one person there to close up shop -- and they have to walk through the back parking lot to get to their cars. Previously, she wouldn't be nervous leaving, but now, she says she doesn't feel very safe, knowing people are loitering there after dark.
"I just wish they would stop," she said. "I mean, it's scary being here, you know, and we shouldn't feel that way."
Morales plans on installing more security cameras in a way to try and get people to stop congregating there at night.
