Phoenix police say a stolen rental truck driven by a burglary suspect collided with a police vehicle and then a tractor-trailer rig before striking a pedestrian who was seriously injured.
Sgt. Vince Lewis says the driver of the stolen U-Haul truck used in the burglary of a cellphone store early Wednesday morning ran from the scene but that a man was taken into custody a short distance away.
Lewis says the pedestrian was hospitalized in extremely critical condition and that no officers were injured.
No additional information was released immediately.
