Authorities say the pilot of a single-engine plane apparently wasn't injured after crashing in a farm field in Goodyear shortly after taking off from a nearby airport.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot was the only person on board when the plane crashed Thursday morning and Goodyear Fire Department Deputy Chief Tom Cole says the man got out of the plane by himself and refused any medical treatment.
The plane ended up nose down into dirt next to a small irrigation canal on the edge of a farm field, and Cole said it had a small fuel leak that firefighters secured.
The plane is registered to a leasing company with a Goodyear address.
Gregor says the FAA will investigate the cause of the crash.
