The skateboarder killed in a Thursday morning wreck identified by police as 26-year-old Daniel Robinson.

According to Tucson Police, officers responded to report of a serious injury vehicle collision involving a truck and a motorized skateboard on E. Lee St. near N. Craycroft Rd.

Officers located an adult man with obvious signs of trauma, and he was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He later died as a result of those injuries.

Robinson was not wearing a helmet or any safety gear.

Detectives learned the rider of the motorized skateboard was eastbound on Lee St., just east of Craycroft Rd. He was traveling on the northern sidewalk and entered the roadway through a private drive cutout. There was a white van legally parked along the northern curb, just east of the private drive.

As the rider maneuvered around the van, he was struck head-on by the driver of a white 2004 Isuzu flatbed truck heading westbound on Lee St.

Speed, nor impairment appear to be factors in the accident.
